Corsair Beefs Up Case Lineup With Two New Models

From DailyTech: Corsair has greatly expanded its product portfolio over the past decade to include flash drives, SSDs, audio products, gaming peripherals, power supplies, and PC cases. In addition to the Accelerator SSD Cache Drives announced earlier today, Corsair also announced two new cases for enthusiasts.

The first new case is the Obsidian Series 550D. The case is constructed of steel and brushed aluminum, and features two 120mm intakes fans and a single 120mm exhaust fan. There are additional fan mounting points which brings the total allowable number of systems fans to 10.

Other features include noise-damping material that has been added to the front and side panels, eight expansion slots (they accommodate graphics cards up to 450mm in length, six tool-free 3.5" drive bays (2.5" HDDs and SSDs are supported via removable caddies), and four tool-free 5.25" drive bays. Audio connectors and two USB 3.0 ports are included on the front panel.

Corsair's Carbide Series 300R case aims further down-market, and is a much more compact case. It provides four 2.5" drive bays and three 5.25" drive bays (all tool-less). Like its Obsidian Series 550D big brother, it fits GPUs up to 450mm in length, but it's total system fan count is cut down to just seven (a single intake fan and exhaust fan are included).

The Obsidian Series 550D will be priced at $159, while the Carbide 300R Series will retail for $89. Both will launch in February and will come with a two-year warranty.
