AMD Unleashes Affordable Graphics Core Next Radeon HD 7700 Family.

From X-bit Labs: Advanced Micro Devices has introduced a new series of inexpensive graphics cards aimed at mainstream personal computers. The new family of AMD Radeon HD 7700-series is based on the latest DirectX 11.1-class GCN (graphics core next) "Southern Islands" architecture and thus features all the latest advantages developed by AMD.

"AMD continues to deliver superior performance, rich features and world-class power efficiency – we never stop innovating," said Matt Skynner, corporate vice president and general manager of GPU division at AMD.

The new Radeon HD 7770 and 7750 support all the advantages that the GCN has to offer, including support for DirectX 11.1, OpenCL 1.2, PCI Express 3.0, AMD Eyefinity 2.0, ultra high-definition output support using DisplayPort 1.2, HDMI 1.4a, optimized power consumption, integrated 7.1 audio controller, stereo-3D/Blu-ray 3D support, and other new technologies.

The graphics cards are available today via retailers and e-tailers worldwide, with select models of the AMD Radeon HD 7770 GHz Edition 1GB starting at $159, and the AMD Radeon HD 7750 1GB starting at $109.

The AMD Radeon HD 7700 series GPUs will be available worldwide from add-in-board partners including Asustek Computer, Gigabyte, HIS, MSI PowerColor, Sapphire XFX.
