Acer pulls the sheets off sexy Liquid Glow ICS smartphone

From CNET News.com: If you've been eagerly waiting for a gluttonous helping of Ice Cream Sandwich, prepare to tuck in. The new Acer Liquid Glow smartphone is the latest in what is sure to be a parade of devices running Android 4.0 announced at Mobile World Congress.

While I'm not exactly sure why this phone is called Liquid Glow, Acer does say the gadget is targeted at, "today's fun-seeking, social-networking youth." I suppose that's apparent from the Liquid Glow's three snazzy hues; Sakura Pink, Alpine White, and Cat's Eye Black. Funny, I thought cat's eyes were wildly colored.

In any case, the device sports a compact 3.7-inch screen and is sculpted in rounded edges that seem ideal for sliding into tight jean pockets. No word about a front-facing camera yet but a 5 megapixel sensor and LED flash sit on the Liquid Glow's back side. Also in board is an NFC (Near Field Communication) chip so getting you Google Wallet on or zapping info to others via Android Beam will be an option.

Acer hasn't said what processor will power the Liquid Glow but my guess is it'll be some form of dual-core CPU and not fire-breathing quad-core silicon which will likely find its way into the higher-end Acer CloudSmart. Sadly the Liquid Glow is slated for a U.K. release so us across the pond may have to settle with an unlocked version. More details will certainly roll out next week at Mobile World Congress. Check back soon for updates.
