Sony Outs Four New Cyber-Shot Digital Cameras

From DailyTech: Sony has unveiled a new line of Cyber-shot digital cameras including the DSC-WX150, DSC-W690, DSC-TX66 and DSC-TX20. Two of the models, the DSC-WX150 and DSC-W690, are called the world's thinnest 10x optical zoom cameras. The thin designs of the new cameras are attributed to Sony's advanced asymmetrical lens element allowing the zoom lens to be considerably smaller than previous models.

The WX150 digital camera will be offering silver, black, red, and blue this May at $250. The camera has 18.2 megapixels and uses the Sony Exmor R CMOS sensor. It has a fast autofocus speed of 0.13 second in daylight and 0.20 second in low light conditions. The rear LCD is 3 inch with 460,000 dot resolution. The camera also has extra high sensitivity for lowlight shooting and can capture 13 megapixel images while recording video. Video is recorded at 1920 x 1080/60i resolution and the camera has enhanced optical steady shot that works for still photos and video along with nine different picture effects options.

The W690 will also launch in May for $180 and will be offered in silver, black, red, and blue. The camera has 16.1-megapixel resolution, uses a CCD sensor, and has a 3-inch rear LCD. It has HD movie recording capability and 720p resolution and includes optical steady shot for video shooting along with four picture effect options.

The TX66 camera will be available in silver, gold, red, white, purple and pink. The camera is set to launch in March for $350. It will offer 18.2-megapixel resolution with an Exmor R CMOS sensor. The camera has autofocus speed of 0.13 seconds in daylight and 0.25 second in lowlight conditions. The lens has 5x wide-angle optical zoom and 10x digital zoom. The rear screen is a 3.3 inch OLED in the camera can shoot 13 megapixel images while recording video. Sony also includes a photo creativity interface and nine picture effects.

The following camera is the TX20, which will come in May in orange, green, black, blue, and pink for $330. The camera has a 16.2 megapixel Exmor R CMOS sensor, 4x wide-angle optical zoom lens, and is waterproof to 16 feet. The camera is also dustproof and shockproof. The rear LCD is a 3-inch Xtra Fine with 921k resolution. Images can be taken at 12-megapixel resolution while recording video and the camera has optical steady shot and seven picture effect modes.
