Sony Jumps Into Ultrabook Market with VAIO T11/T13

From DailyTech: Sony has announced that it stepping into the ultrabook market with two new computers. The new machines include the Vaio T series T11 and T13. The difference in the two machines is in the screen size, indicated by the numerical value in the model name. Both machines use LED backlit screens and are designed to be thin and lightweight.

The machines use an aluminum/magnesium chassis and feature Rapid Wake technology to be ready use in seconds. To activate the notebook using the Rapid Wait technology, the user only has the open screen to wake the machine up or close the screen to place it into sleep mode.

Both of the new ultrabooks promise up to nine hours between charges when equipped with SSDs. There are also hybrid models that use Intel Smart Response Technology with SSD cache memory on the motherboard combined with a high-capacity HDD for mass storage.

The specific processor used in the machines is the Intel Core i3-2367M and the ultrabooks include 4 GB of RAM. Standard storage is handled by a 320 GB hard drive, while an SSD is optional. The ultrabooks feature Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, USB 3.0, HDMI output, integrated web cam, and the touchpad supports gestures. The screen resolution for the 13-inch version of the ultrabook is 1366 x 768, however, the resolution on the 11-inch version isn't noted.

Pricing is unknown at this time. These machines are likely among the 75 new models Intel bragged about recently.
