Rumor: Amazon May Release New Fire Tablets in Late 2012/Early 2013,

From DailyTech: It is rumored that Amazon may launch two new Kindle Fire models later this year while cutting the price of its original tablet entry.

According to Max Wang at DigiTimes, who spoke with sources from a supply chain, Amazon is looking to launch a new 7-inch tablet for $199 during the third quarter of the fiscal year. This new tablet is expected to have a better screen resolution than the original at 1280x800.

Amazon will also supposedly release a 10-inch version of its tablet during the fourth quarter of 2012 or first quarter of 2013. The price for this is currently unknown.

An 8.9-inch updated Kindle Fire was reportedly in the works as well, but DigiTimes said production of this version has already been halted.

With so many new models expected to be released this year, Amazon is also supposedly cutting the price of its original Kindle Fire to $150.

While Amazon has confirmed none of the above yet, it would make sense that Amazon would release a new tablet annually after the success it saw last holiday season with its first Kindle Fire.
