Dell Adds New Notebook, Tablet, AIO to XPS Family

From DailyTech: Dell has unveiled three new XPS products at IFA 2012. The new machines include the XPS 10 tablet, XPS Duo 12, and the XPS One 27. The XPS 10 is a 10-inch tablet built to support Windows RT. The tablet provides an intuitive touch capability, long battery life, and a mobile keyboard dock for enhanced content creation and productivity. The tablet will use an ARM processor, but exactly what processor will be used in the tablet is unknown.

The next of the new devices is the XPS Duo 12 convertible ultrabook. This machine has a touchscreen display that folds back making it into a tablet. Dell says that the machine provides the full functionality of an ultraportable laptop with a keyboard with convenience of the tablet. The screen offers full HD resolution with sharp and crisp text for reading and clear and lifelike photos and video. The screen is covered with Gorilla Glass and the computer is made using machined aluminum and carbon fiber.

The final new machine is the XPS One 27. Dell says that this machine offers nearly twice the pixel density of any other 27-inch AIO on the market. The machine is designed for creative professionals requiring a super-high resolution display and high-performance graphics for multimedia creation. The 27-inch Wide Quad HD display used on the machine sounds very impressive.

“The XPS 10, XPS Duo 12 and XPS One 27 represent the culmination of a deep understanding of the ‘Bring Your Own Device’ movement and insights gained from both our consumer and business customers,” said Sam Burd, global vice president, PC product group at Dell. “The new set of products Dell unveiled today represents a milestone in our design and approach to user experience. Our vision for our XPS line of computers is not just about the device or technology, it’s about achieving the perfect balance of amazing design, end user productivity and IT enablement.”

All three machines will be available when Windows 8 launches at the end of October with pricing announced closer to launch.
