HP Launches New Notebooks, Desktops

From DailyTech: HP has announced the launch of some new computers aimed at general consumers and business market. The new machines are designed to work with Windows 8 and use the latest generation Intel Core and AMD processors inside.

The HP Pavilion Sleekbook 14 and Sleekbook 15 share much of the same features with the major difference being screen size. The Sleekbook 14 has a 14-inch screen while the Sleekbook 15 offers a 15.6-inch display. The machines also have up to 1 TB of storage and plenty of ports including HDMI outputs, USB 3.0, and USB 2.0 ports. The Sleekbooks also have a number pad along with the keyboard and can be outfitted with optional NVIDIA discrete graphics cards.

Another major difference between the Sleekbook 14 and Sleekbook 15 is that the 14-inch version uses AMD processors, while the 15-inch version uses Intel processors.

Another interesting notebook that HP has unveiled is the Envy m4. This notebook is designed to strike a balance between mobility and performance. The machine has HP ProtectSmart tech to help preserve data if the notebook is dropped and SimplePass technology for enhanced security with a fingerprint scanner.

The machine has a 14-inch display and uses third-generation Intel Core processors. The machine has an integrated high-definition web cam and some models of the machine also features Intel WiDi to allow the user to send content from the computer screen wirelessly to a TV. The machine also has an integrated subwoofer and two speakers that use Beats Audio technology.

HP also announced the Envy Phoenix h9 desktop computer. The desktop is designed with an interesting armor-plated style and custom lighting. The machine can be optioned with a variety of top-of-the-line Intel processors and a choice of discrete NVIDIA or AMD graphics cards. The machine can also be fitted with SSDs and uses liquid cooling.

HP Sleekbook 14 and 15 notebooks will start at $499.99 and $559.99 respectively with the launch set for October 26. The Envy m4 will start at $899.99 and will be available in select markets on October 26. The Envy Phoenix h9 will start at $899 and launch on October 26.
