Nvidia's Kepler Lands into Mainstream Segment

From X-bit Labs: Nvidia Corp. on Tuesday introduced yet another member of the Kepler family of graphics solutions. The novelty costs around $150 and is designed to address the needs of mainstream gamers, who demand latest features, yet are not ready to pay for premium graphics boards.

The GeForce GTX 650 Ti is based on already well-known GK106 graphics processing unit that is configured to offer 768 stream processors, 64 texture units, 16 raster operating units as well as 128-bit GDDR5 memory interface. Nvidia recommends its partners to set GPU clock-speed at 925MHz and equip the solution with 5.40GHz GDDR4 memory. However, Nvidia also allows to release factory-overclocked custom solutions with increased frequencies.

Thanks to the fact that Nvidia GeForce GTX 650 Ti is based on GK106 graphics chip, it demonstrates 40% faster performance in modern video games than the GeForce GTX 650, which is powered by GK107 processor (with only 384 stream processors).

Nvidia positions GeForce GTX 650 Ti against AMD's Radeon HD 7770 graphics card (with 640 stream processors), even though this is not completely fair since the model GTX 650 Ti costs starting from $149, whereas Radeon HD 7770 can be acquired from $129 - $130.

The Nvidia GeForce GTX 650 Ti GPUs are available now from the leading add-in card suppliers, including ASL, Asustek Computer, Colorful, ECS, EVGA, Gainward, Galaxy, Gigabyte, Innovision 3D, Jetway, Leadtek, MSI, Palit, Point of View, PNY, Sparkle and Zotac.
