Scythe Group Denies Plans to Shut Down Operations

From X-bit Labs: Scythe Group on Friday denied information that it plans to shut down operations, as reported on Thursday based on a statement made by Scythe US company. Scythe continues to develop, manufacture and sell cooling solutions for personal computers as well as various accessories. The company will resume operations in the U.S. in the short-term future.

Scythe Group is restructuring the company at the moment. As it appears, the U.S. subsidiary of Scythe was managed separately from Scythe Group, which is why it had to be closed down. Until a new U.S. daughter company of Scythe Group is established, the Taiwan office will take over Scythe business activities in the USA.

All other branches of Scythe Group are not affected of restructuring measures: Scythe Europe, Scythe Japan, Scythe Taiwan and Scythe China continue to do business as usual.

Scythe is generally recognized as a leading supplier of various high-quality PC coolers, but besides the latter, the company also sells accessories for a variety of electronics in Japan. In the rest of the world the company is primarily known for its legendary cooling systems for microprocessors and graphics cards, though.

It turns out that despite of generally slow economy, crisis on the market of PCs and prolonged upgrade cycles, which most probably lowered demand for premium cooling systems as well as other components, Scythe will remain on the market. The popular manufacturer will continue to supply its premium-class coolers, many of which are already legendary among enthusiasts.
