Nvidia Preps GK110-Based "Titan" Professional Graphics Card – Rumour

From X-bit Labs: Nvidia Corp. has already introduced Tesla K20-series compute cards and GeForce GTX Titan graphics cards for consumers based on the GK110 graphics processing unit. Currently the company is at work on a professional graphics card based on the world’s highest-performing graphics processor, according to a market rumour.

The Quadro family of professional graphics cards features a number of solutions powered by Nvidia’s latest Kepler architecture that are aimed at entry-level, mid-range and high-end workstations. Nonetheless, the company still offers Quadro 6000 based on Fermi architecture for ultra high-end machines. In a bid to complete the professional lineup with Kepler architecture, Nvidia reportedly plans to unleash Quadro K6000 graphics board powered by GK110 chip in the near future.

Not a lot is known about Nvidia Quadro K6000 graphics card, except of the fact that it is supposed to be based on GK110 processor with some of the compute units and memory controllers deactivated, according to a media report. The graphics solution is expected to feature 2496 stream processors (13 SMX) as well as 320-bit memory bus.

The main advantage of the Quadro K6000 over existing Fermi-based Quadro 6000 and Quadro K5000 will not only be pure performance advantage in professional applications thanks to improved count of stream processors and geometry engines, but 1TFLOPS of double-precision performance (a 100% increase over the 6000 model), which may be appreciated by some professionals.

Keeping in mind positioning of ultra high-end professional graphics card, pricing in the range between $2500 and $4000 should be expected for Quadro K6000.
