LG's Flagship Optimus G Pro Land Friday on AT&T, Leaked on Sprint

From DailyTech: Currently, LG Electronics, Inc. (KSC:066570) is second place in Android sales, behind only domestic rival Samsung Electronics Comp., Ltd. (KSC:005930). Those sales are mostly driven by the Nexus 4, LG's Google Inc. (GOOG) branded Android smartphone. But that could soon change with the launch of the Optimus G Pro, a 1080p upgrade to the Optimus G.

Attractive in its own right, the 5.5-inch Pro has what it takes to go head to head with Samsung's Galaxy S IV and HTC Corp.'s (TPE:2498) HTC One, as well as Nexus 5, which is expected to launch shortly.

Already on sale in Asia, the Optimus G Pro will enter the American market on May 10 on AT&T, Inc. (T) (with the code "E980"). The Android Police also believe a Sprint Nextel Corp. (S) launch is impending, via a product spreadsheet which lists an "LS980" 1080p LG device.

However, the spreadsheet lists a Snapdragon 800 processor from Qualcomm, Inc. (QCOM) rather than the Snapdragon 600 currently available and in the AT&T Optimus G Pro. Thus it's unclear whether this is an immediate pending release (and simply a typo) or an upgraded version of the G Pro due out later this year.

Either way LG's flagship phone should soon be carried by America's second and third largest carrier. LG is also planning on releasing a flexible smartphone during the holiday season.
