Cheap AT&T GoPhone Data Option Get the Axe

From DailyTech: AT&T has announced some changes to its prepaid GoPhone service that definitely won't make existing customers happy. The no contract, no credit check prepaid service will continue to operate, but AT&T is eliminating several of the more affordable data plan options for GoPhone customers on June 20.

Currently, GoPhone has a $25 monthly plan that includes unlimited text messages, 250 voice minutes, and the option of adding 50 MB of data for an additional five dollars per month. AT&T is eliminating the 200 MB data plan ($15) and the 1 GB data plan ($25).

"We're making some changes to our AT&T GoPhone prepaid plans to simplify our offers and better align with what customers are choosing and telling us they want," the company said in a statement. "We've begun letting customers know about the changes in advance, and we'll have more information on new, additional plan options soon."

According to AT&T, new plans will be unveiled in the "coming weeks", but there is no indication if the new plans will carry prices as low as those currently offered.
