Microsoft Reduces Surface Pro Pricing by $100

From DailyTech: Microsoft continues to struggle with the popularity of Surface tablets. Last month, Microsoft slashed the price of its ARM-powered Surface RT tablets running the Windows RT operating system. The price cut on the Service RT tablet reduced the entry-level price for Surface RT to a more palatable $349.

Microsoft has now announced “limited time” price cuts for its Surface Pro tablets that run Windows 8. From now until August 30, you can pick up a 128 GB Surface Pro tablet for $899. The 64 GB Surface Pro is available for $799. Each of those tablets reflects a price reduction of $100.

The temporary price cut could simply be a way for Microsoft to push sales ahead of the traditionally busy back-to-school buying season. However, some speculate that the price cut could mean that a new generation of “Surface 2.0” tablets is on the horizon.
