NVIDIA Opens Technology Center in Ann Arbor Michigan

From DailyTech: NVIDIA has announced that it has opened a new Ann Arbor Tech Center, following years of investment in Michigan. The new NVIDIA Tech Center comes as major automotive manufacturers such as GM, Ford, and others have begun hiring huge numbers of software developers specifically to create in-vehicle applications.

NVIDIA points out that Volkswagen, Chrysler, Ford, and GM are already using NVIDIA products in the design process for its vehicles, so having a technology center near the heart of the auto manufacturing community in Michigan makes sense. The tech center also puts NVIDIA close to the University of Michigan where it can pick up young, fresh talent.

Michael Finney, president and CEO of the Michigan Economic Development Corporation, says, “I’m pleased to see more technology-focused companies look to the state of Michigan as a resourceful home and partner. NVIDIA’s commitment to the state of Michigan is an encouraging sign for future growth and jobs in the technology and automotive industries.”

NVIDIA is already one of the biggest providers of infotainment technology for vehicles with several major automakers directly using its technology within vehicles. Digital in-dash instrument clusters from Audi, Bentley, BMW, Lamborghini, Maserati, Rolls-Royce, Tesla, and Volkswagen are all powered by NVIDIA hardware.
