Dell Launches New Tablets, XPS Laptops

From DailyTech: Dell announced a new line of tablets and laptop computers aimed at families and business users alike today including a convertible Ultrabook. The new machines include the Dell Venue tablet line, the XPS 11 two-in-one, and the XPS 15 laptop.

The Venue line of tablets has four ultrathin models including the Venue 8 Pro and Venue 11 Pro. The Venue 8 runs Windows 8.1 and uses HD resolution IPS display. The Venue 11 Pro also runs Windows 8.1 and features a detachable keyboard turning the tablet into an ultrabook. The machine also has a full HD resolution display and an active stylus allowing users to draw or take notes directly on the screen.

Dell also unveiled the Venue 7 and Venue 8 Android tablets. Both tablets use the Intel Atom Z2760 processor with the main difference being screen size. The Pro versions of the tablets run quad-core Bay Trail processors while the 11 Pro can be fitted with fourth-generation Intel Core i3 or i5 processors.

The XPS 11 weighs in at 2.5 pounds and is 11-15 mm thick making it the thinnest and lightest 2-in-1 ultrabook in the world according to Dell. The machine was designed with a tablet first process with laptop functionality. It transitions from a laptop to a tablet using a 360° rotating hinge. The XPS 11 also has a backlit touch keyboard and a display with 2560 x 1440 resolution measuring 11.6-inches.

The XPS 15 weighs 4.44 pounds and features a 15.6-inch screen with Quad HD+ resolution. It can be fitted with up to 1 TB of storage space or a 512 GB SSD. Processor options include fourth generation Core i5 and i7 parts. The Dell XPS 13 features a 13.3-inch screen and is also fitted with various for generation Intel Core processors. Despite having a larger 13.3-inch display, Dell says that this is the footprint similar to an 11-inch laptop.

The Venue 7, 8, 8 Pro, and XPS 15 will be available on October 18 in the US and other locations around the world. Pricing for those devices is $149.99, $179.99, $299.99, and $1499.99 respectively. The Venue 11 Pro, XPS 11, and XPS 13 with touch will all be available in November for $499.99, $999.99, and $999.99 respectively.
