A few days ago, I was planning to take my old Honda Civic in to do some maintenance, since the check engine light has been on for a while. Even though I had already known that the maintenance must be done for the sake of safety, a little thing called laziness assisted me in postponing the date of taking the car to the mechanic day after day. Until yesterday, I thought I could still wait before taking the car in, but I smelled that something was burning somewhere in my car after driving for a while. After taking the vehicle to my mechanic, the guy told me that the rear left brake caliper has seized, so the brake pad was always pressing against the rotor, and heat was built up due to friction. There are three things I have learned from this experience. First, do not hesitate to visit your mechanic if you feel something is wrong with your car. Second, friction causes heat. And third, related to that, heat will cause a problem. Of course, although heat is not always a result of something breaking, it can cause problems in places other than your car. Today’s review units, the Cooler Master MasterFan Pro series, including three 120 mm and two 140 mm fans of slightly varying designs, are here to solve the heat problem of your computer system. Will they all do their job without being annoying? Let us find out by giving them a try!
The Cooler Master MasterFan Pro series arrived via UPS Standard to us here in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. As you can see from the picture, the parcel is a little bit big for just one case fan, but that is because we have five of them instead of one. The package was shipped from Chino, California, where the headquarters of Cooler Master is located. I was not the person who received this parcel when it arrived here at APH Networks in Calgary, Alberta, Canada in the first place, but the box came in pretty good shape, and there were very few dents on the surface.
Taking all five fans out of the shipping parcel and putting them on the ground, it truly makes quite a magnificent sight to have all of the products in the MasterFan Pro series together. All of these retail boxes feature the same design scheme, which makes sense because they belong to one big family. The background color of the retail packages is black, and it matches the color of the actual products. You cannot easily see the pictures of the fans on the package, since both the fans and the background is black, although you can somewhat see the shapes of the fan blades. Just by glancing at the packages, the first thing that catches my eye are the fans' sizes. They are printed in blue and is located at the lower part of the package's front cover. The name of the series and the model of the particular fan is located above and below the blue-printed size information, respectively. On top of the package front cover is the company logo. A “Make It Yours” slogan is printed right beside the Cooler Master logo. In the MasterFan Pro series, there are five different fans we can choose from to meet your specific needs, which means you have at least five different ways to make your computer yours. Flipping the front cover over, you can see several important information points regarding the recommended installation locations for the fan, three different modes and the corresponding noise levels for each of them, and so forth. Overall speaking, the package design is pretty good in my opinion, since you can spot all the useful information like the size, character, and looks of the fan fairly easily.
