About ATTO Disk Benchmark

The ATTO Disk Benchmark performance measurement tool is compatible with Microsoft Windows. Measure your storage systems performance with various transfer sizes and test lengths for reads and writes. Several options are available to customize your performance measurement including queue depth, overlapped I/O and even a comparison mode with the option to run continuously. Use ATTO Disk Benchmark to test any manufacturers RAID controllers, storage controllers, host adapters, hard drives and SSD drives and notice that ATTO products will consistently provide the highest level of performance to your storage.

Following up next are our usual ATTO read and write tests. ATTO is an often-quoted benchmark because it is easy to use and accurate. For the most part, it is a favorite among reviewers, and I have grown to embrace it as much as the next for the last little while. ATTO uses easily compressible data, so compression-heavy controllers will perform very well here.

As far as the Phison 5025-E25 controller on the T500 2TB is concerned, well, here are our results. The Crucial T500 2TB peaked at 6610MB/s read and 6310MB/s write. Under the read curve, it completed dominated the P5 Plus 2TB -- coming in at approximately twice the speed -- up to 128K. It was very comparable to the Kingston FURY Renegade 1TB, which is one of the best PCIe 4.0-based NVMe SSDs. Its peak speed was about 200MB/s slower than the FURY Renegade 1TB though.

Under the write curve, the Crucial T500 2TB did not deliver as impressive ramp-up speed, being closer than a budget mainstream drive than a performance SSD. It was very comparable to the P5 Plus 2TB. Compared to the P3 Plus series, well, there was simply no comparison -- the P3 Plus series had higher numbers at every transfer size in both read and write, which is unfortunate consider that is a lower end model. Overall, the Crucial T500 2TB's performance was still acceptable in this test, thanks to the fast PCIe 4.0 interface.
