Func HS-260 Review (Page 4 of 4)

Page 4 – Conclusion

So what do you get when you put all of this together? A product any company, whether new or old, should be extremely proud of. Func did a lot of things right with the HS-260. For starters, this is one great looking headset. It pulls a conservative design, and adds pizzazz in the small details like chrome linings, a soft-rubber like feel, and a cool metal touch near the top of the headband. Material choices, while majority is plastic, does not feel cheap whatsoever. Providing both leather and velour earmuffs is definitely another thumbs up to Func. The braided, removable cord is another plus. Making the microphone and cord swappable is another bonus that is a bit more helpful than I expected. These headsets are also very comfortable and can be worn for extended periods without any discomfort. When it comes to audio, once again the biggest thing is the soundscaping capabilities, which give a full-room experience out of a relatively small headset. Of course, there are a few things that could be worked out in terms of the audio, and this is mainly in the higher ends of the midrange, as well as the treble. The higher end can be cleaned up to reduce the slight muffle, and also moistened to take away the perceived dryness. While the bass is rounded and full, it is a tad heavy and could be tuned a bit down to make the Func HS-260 more neutral. Fixing the microphone to show when it is actually muted, while also making it a bit easier to flex around would also be nice. Making the headphones a bit lighter would be good, but I would not compromise material choices to meet this request. Durability is also a bit of a question, as these still are plastic headsets, so I would not recommend leaving the house with them. Of course, these are nitpicky items, and Func still delivers quite well for audio quality and design. When Func wanted to make “Candy for your ears” they really were not lying. It is one of those odd times when it is hard to find negative parts about these headphones. Looking at online retailers, the list price is approximately $80 USD, and I would say it is a decent price for a good performing headset. If you are looking for a clean and conservative looking pair of headphones that can perform well with both music and gaming for a reasonable price, then the Func HS-260 is the one to get!

This may be Func’s first attempt at an audio product, but the HS-260 is no amateur in terms of looks and performance.
