About ATTO Disk Benchmark

The ATTO Disk Benchmark performance measurement tool is compatible with Microsoft Windows. Measure your storage systems performance with various transfer sizes and test lengths for reads and writes. Several options are available to customize your performance measurement including queue depth, overlapped I/O and even a comparison mode with the option to run continuously. Use ATTO Disk Benchmark to test any manufacturers RAID controllers, storage controllers, host adapters, hard drives and SSD drives and notice that ATTO products will consistently provide the highest level of performance to your storage.

Our next set of tests are the usual ATTO read and write tests. ATTO is an often-quoted benchmark because it is easy to use and accurate. For the most part, it is a favorite among reviewers and I have grown to embrace it as much as the next for the last little while. ATTO uses easily compressible data, so compression-heavy controllers will perform very well here.

Our Netac NV7000-t 1TB peaked at 6030MB/s write and 6470MB/s read. These were superb numbers, especially with a write speed that was in the upper half of all of the drives tested. On the other hand, they were also below the quoted 6600MB/s and 7300MB/s write and read speeds, respectively, from the manufacturer. Under the write curve, the NV7000-t 1TB was impressive. It was well ahead of all of the drives from 0.5KB to 64KB packet sizes and even faster than most of the DRAM-equipped SSDs. In fact, the only drive that came close to this in this metric was the Lexar Professional NM800 PRO 2TB. Of course, once it reached near peak speeds, more drives overtook this one. As for the read curve, the NV7000-t was more in the middle for the pack. It still was decently fast in ramping up for smaller packet sizes below 64KB, but at and above this transfer size, other drives were faster. Overall, the results were good still, with excellent under-the-curve write speeds and decent read performance.
