From X-bit Labs: Intel Corp., the world’s largest maker of microprocessors, and Silicon Hive, a startup that develops software that boosts performance of parallel processing of data, on Tuesday announced collaboration under which the two companies plan to improve performance of Atom processors and system-on-chips (SoCs) powered by Atom cores in highly-threaded applications. “We are excited to work with Intel to bring Silicon Hive parallel processing technology to the vast ecosystem of Atom-based SoCs and their very broad consumer applications. The strengthening of relationship between Intel and Silicon Hive offers a major growth opportunity for Silicon Hive and takes us further in our vision of mass-deployment of Silicon Hive’s technology for consumer benefit”, said Atul Sinha chief executive officer of Silicon Hive. Silicon Hive designs, builds and licenses application-specific solutions for imaging, video processing and communications. The company’s products enable semiconductor and consumer electronics companies to make fully programmable system-on-chips improving time to market performance. It remains to be seen whether technologies developed by Silicon Hive will seriously boost performance of multi-threaded applications on Atom microprocessors or SoCs. What is clear is that Intel wants to improve performance of Atom going forward. View: Article @ Source Site |
