Nintendo: 3DS Not Coming in 2010

From X-bit Labs: Nintendo said that it would not ship its much-anticipated 3DS portable game console in 2010. This contradicts to earlier information based on which the launch time-frame of the 3DS was in October ’10.

“Nintendo 3DS will not be arriving in 2010. 3DS won’t be appearing until next year” said Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime during the Late Night with Jimmy Fallon talk show, reports Venture Beat web-site.

Nintendo 3DS comes with a 3.53” top screen and a 3.02” bottom touch screen. It has three cameras – one inner and two outer – to deliver the stereo-3D effect and take stereo-3D pictures. It includes a motion sensor, a gyro sensor, Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n controller, a Slide Pad that allows 360-degree analog input and so on. The device also has a special slider that can increase, decrease or disable stereoscopic 3D (S3D) effect. The 3DS comes in form-factor that is similar to the predecessors and is fully compatible with Nintendo DS titles. The console uses DMP Pica 200 graphics processor.

The decision seems to be rather strange, considering the fact that in the U.S. and Europe the Q4 is the season of increased sales in general.

Previously, Nintendo had only said that it would ship the portable gaming system before March 31, 2011. Unofficially it has been suggested that Nintendo would launch the 3DS on the 10th of October of 2010 (10.10.10).
