From PC Mag: Today, Capcom announced that Street Fighter 6 is in production, and promised to elevate the fighting game to a new level for esports.
The teaser trailer released alongside the announcement gives nothing away in terms of what to expect from the look or feel of the game. It's also possible (although unlikely) we'll be able to play it this year, with Capcom stating in a tweet that "More Street Fighter 6 news coming Summer 2022."
A website has already gone live for the next entry in the series, but it currently only offers access to the teaser trailer and a newsletter sign-up form so you can have that summer update sent directly to your inbox.
As part of the announcement, Capcom confirmed that the now six-year-old Street Fighter V had shipped 6.1 million copies by the end of 2021. That's impressive considering the lack of content the game offered at launch back in 2016. Capcom did turn the situation around, however, by launching a single-player cinematic story mode called "A Shadow Falls" followed by an Arcade Edition of the game in Oct. 2017 and a Champion Edition in Feb. 2020.
