From PC Mag: TikTok today blamed a bug for a prompt that asked iPhone users to enter their phone's passcodes when they opened the app.
"The iOS passcode prompt was a bug resulting from an update we've begun to introduce in the US in partnership with our US security partner. This issue impacted a small number of people, we've resolved it, and people won't see the prompt going forward," a TikTok spokesperson tells PCMag. "The passcode is used by the iOS operating system to help verify user identity. Neither TikTok nor our US security partner were able to collect or access people's iOS passcodes."
Reports of the prompt started making the rounds this month on Reddit. "My TikTok app randomly started asking for my iPhone passcode when I go to open the app. I can tap cancel at the bottom and it still opens up to my FYP. What do I do about this? I’m kind of worried about it," InspiringLizard wrote on the TikTok Help subreddit.
"Literally came here to say its been doing it to me all day!!" another user wrote this week.
