From PC Mag: Amazon now blocks Meta’s Muse AI assistant from shopping its store on a user's behalf. Customers using the recently launched personal AI agent were notified that Muse had stopped working when browsing Amazon.com on Sept. 20.
As spotted by GeekWire, Amazon sent customers a pop-up notification that reads, “Continued access by an unauthorized AI agent violates Amazon’s Conditions of Use, to which our customers have agreed.”
Amazon later told GeekWire that Meta didn't inform the retailer of its plans for Muse to access its site, and that the AI doesn't identify as an agentic tool when it does so.
In a statement, a spokesperson for Amazon said, “We think it’s fairly straightforward that third-party applications that offer to make purchases on behalf of customers from other businesses should operate openly and respect service provider decisions about whether or not to participate.” Meta has yet to respond to PCMag's request for comment.
