I was recently reviewing resumes for a co-op position we had posted for my team. For some context, the job posting made it clear we were looking for people who were currently studying in post-secondary. As such, I laughed when I saw more than a dozen resumes that were from people with many years of working experience. These were easy people to immediately reject, especially as it showed they were not even looking at the job listing. Unfortunately, this still left me with more than a hundred applicants to review and filter through. A lot of these overqualified applicants are people who spam out their applications at all opportunities they can find. Even so, I find it strange this many senior-level workers would even think about applying for a junior position, especially with a notable reduction in pay and a limited work term. I wish people would read a bit more or limit their automatic applications to positions for which they are suited. Even in times of desperation, it is important that you apply for things you are looking for and not just spray your resume everywhere. On the other hand, power supplies are not that specific when it comes to your computer’s use. Unlike deciding on a CPU or GPU that can be based on the purpose of your computer, a good power supply should be good for any use if it can provide enough power for the connected components. Today, we have the SilverStone Triton 1000Rz 1000W, which is a Gold-tier unit. Does this power supply fit as a solid option for any build? Let us read on to find out!
Today's review unit of the SilverStone Triton 1000Rz 1000W came from SilverStone's offices in Chino, California. Traveling with FedEx and their Ground service, this corrugated cardboard box arrived in good condition. There were no holes or notable bumps to be concerned about. One thing I was not a huge fan of was the inclusion of Styrofoam packing peanuts inside. While it protects the contents of the box, it is a hassle to clean up. This power supply is the only product inside this shipping box.
Looking at the retail container of the SilverStone Triton 1000Rz 1000W, we have an all-color box with a notable blue and gold color scheme. The box has a SilverStone logo on the top left corner, the product name underneath, and a scaled image on the right side. A tagline of "Cybenetics Gold 1000W PCIe 5 Fully Modular ATX Power Supply" is printed under the product name. At the bottom, it is clear this is a 1000W power supply. There are some notable features highlighted, including compliance with ATX 3.1 and PCIe Gen 5 standards, a 600W 12V-2x6 connector, and Cybenetics Gold efficiency rating. In addition, you can tell we received the White Edition of the Triton 1000Rz, but a black one also exists if you so desire.
Before we continue, I have grabbed the specifications from the manufacturer's website for your perusal:

Once you open the box, you will see the box is split into two primary areas. On one side, there is the SilverStone Triton 1000Rz 1000W stored in a transparent plastic bag and in between two large white pieces of polyethylene foam. This open-cell foam is excellent at protecting the heavy power supply from damage in transit. Next, there is a cardboard divider with another plastic bag inside to hold the power supply cables. The power cable is bundled separately, and a set of mounting screws is in a separate bag. We also have two manuals to go over the power supply's specifications and warranty information. Just to note, the Triton 1000Rz 1000W comes with a paltry three-year warranty. This is consistent throughout their recent Gold-rated units, as only their Platinum and Titanium ATX options get five years of coverage. Given that many PSU manufacturers are providing ten years of warranty on their units, this is short.
