Samsung Galaxy K zoom Smartphone Gets Official, Offers 10x Optical Zoom

From DailyTech: Samsung has gone official with its follow-up to the Galaxy S4 Zoom: the Galaxy K zoom. The Galaxy K zoom's main draw is its 20.7MP sensor and 10x optical zoom with optical image stabilization.

The Galaxy K zoom includes dual Xenon Flash, AF/AE Separation, and even features a Pro Suggest mode with five optimized filter settings. Selfie Alarm is another feature that makes it easy for users to take timed selfies with ease.

Seeing as how the camera is the standout feature for the Galaxy K zoom, other hardware specs aren’t nearly as impressive (at least in comparison to the Galaxy S5). It features a hexa-core processor design (1.3GHz quad-core + 1.7GHz dual-core), 2GB of RAM, and a 4.8-inch HD Super AMOLED (1280 x 720). It also has integrated Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, A-GPS+GLONASS, and supports LTE.

It will be interesting to see if devices like the Galaxy K zoom – and traditional smartphones, which are increasingly being paired with higher quality optics – further erode the point-and-shoot camera market. Device convergence is inevitable and many companies are already witnessing the fallout from the smartphone boom.
