From DailyTech: Remember the Roamio lineup that TiVo introduced last year, which could record up to 450 hours of HD programming? That’s merely child’s play compared to what TiVo is introducing today. If you have $5,000 to spare, and room for what basically amounts to a server rack, TiVo’s new Mega will satiate your need for excess.
The TiVo Mega features 24TB of storage in a hot-swappable RAID-5 arrangement. That immense amount of space is enough to allow for 4,000 hours of recorded HD content. However, those that choose to record in SD (who would want to do that?) can stretch that out to 26,000 hours or just under three years worth of content.
Like the Roamio Plus and Roamio Pro, the Mega also supports the ability to record up to six channels at once. The device is also multi-room capable, can stream (live or recorded content) wirelessly anywhere to smartphones and tablets. The TiVo Mega includes a Slide Pro Remote, but your smartphone and tablet can also be used as a remote using a free app. You’ll also find the same ports as you would on the Roamio Pro, meaning there's Ethernet, coax (MoCA), composite and component video, HDMI, optical audio, USB 2.0 ports, eSATA, and a CableCard slot.
"Size matters,” said TiVo Chief Marketing Officer Ira Bahr. “TiVo Mega offers more than twelve times the storage of any cable or satellite DVR. TiVo Mega is the solution for the power user who wants to record everything. We salute you and enjoy!"
