LG G4 Will Reportedly Debut in Spring With New G Pen

From DailyTech: LG Electronics, Inc. (KRX:066570)(KRX:066575) will reportedly be borrowing a page from domestic rival Samsung Electronics Comp., Ltd. (KRX:005930) (KRX:005935) with the release of its next G Series smartphone. Asian leaks site ITHome is claiming to have [translated] inside info indicating that the upcoming LG G4 will mark the debut of LG's new G Pen accessory.

This isn't the first time LG has toyed with a stlyus accessory, but if true, the new stylus would be a first for the South Korean OEM's flagship line. The LG G3 packed a 5.5-inch display, but no stylus. A couple months back LG released a mid-range model, the LG G3 Stylus. The Galaxy Note 4 packed premium hardware and a hair bigger at 5.7-inches. One of its most coveted features was the S Pen.

The iPhone 6+ from Apple, Inc. (AAPL) was identical to the LG G3 in display dimensions and lacked an official stylus extension. Its sales have been relatively poor, as customers have appeared to prefer rival phablets like the stylus-equipped Note 4.

LG G4 will reportedly take a clue from the Note 4 and lower end LG G3 Stylus, and come with an extension. The ITHome report cites recent U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) filings as indicating that LG will call its second-generation stylus a "G Pen".
