From DailyTech: Were you an early adopter of a first-generation Surface RT/Pro model or second-generation Surface 2/Pro 2 model and feel like you're missing out on the latest and greates Surface Pro 3? Well, for fans of Microsoft Corp.'s (MSFT) hybrid line, the good news is that a limited promotion is rewarding early adopters with up to $650 USD off the latest model, if they're willing to trade in their older devices.
Hot on the heels of across the board price cuts to the Surface Pro 3 line, Microsoft has another discount deal on its 12-inch hybrid. The bad news for America's northern neighbors is that this new promotion only applies to the U.S. Owners of older models will also have to act fast -- the promotion runs from 2/15/2015 to 3/8/2015.
Curiously the trade-in also applies to the current-gen model, perhaps looking to lure customers into trading their way to an upgrade.
The Surface Pro 3 trade-in is interesting, as Microsoft is giving up to 71 percent of the current MSRP back in trade-in value... not that bad a deal for more recent buyers itching to upgrade.
The trade-ins on older values aren't the most amazing offers in the world as they're ~15 percent of MSRP (on average) for first generation models and ~21% of MSRP for second gen models. But it's better than nothing, right?
