Apple says it has sold out of initial quantities of iPhone 7 Plus

From CNET: If you have your heart set on an iPhone 7 Plus, you may have to be patient.

Apple said late Thursday that initial quantities of the larger version of its new flagship phone were sold out in all colors during the preorder process that began last week. The company also said the smaller iPhone 7 is sold out in jet black, a new color scheme Apple introduced for the new handset.

"We sincerely appreciate our customers' patience as we work hard to get the new iPhone into the hands of everyone who wants one as quickly as possible," Apple spokeswoman Trudy Muller said in a statement.

Before word that the iPhone 7 Plus had sold out, the phone was expected to arrive in stores on Friday alongside its smaller sibling. The phones appear nearly identical to last year's models but ditch the headphone jack in favor of wireless headphones or headphones that connect through the Lightning charging port.

In addition to traditional colors, the new phones are also available in two new black versions, including the shiny jet black model. The phones feature better processors, more storage, water resistance and new home buttons that respond to different pressure levels. The larger model, the 7 Plus, includes dual rear cameras that give users better zoom capabilities.
