Nintendo Switch hitting March 17, report suggests

From CNET: The Nintendo Switch could be here on March 17, according to freelance video game writer Laura Kate Dale, who claims to have an industry source.

While the console's official reveal trailer indicated a March 2017 launch, this may be our best guess yet at a specific date.

Dale does not name her source, but she stands behind its trustworthiness, claiming it was the same person who gave her information about the Switch trailer before the reveal.

In her tweet, Dale says March 17 is the launch date in the PAL region. Video games and their consoles are broken up into regions corresponding to different technical standards. The PAL region consists of Europe, Australia and New Zealand, and thus get a slightly different console than the NTSC region (the US, Canada, Middle East, and more).

Generally, this means the release of the console is staggered. Dale claims that all major regions will get the Switch that week (with Japan possibly getting it a few days earlier). If this is true, the Switch could be released on March 12 in North America, given that both the Wii U and Wii came out on Sundays.
