Samsung recalls 2.8M washing machines due to injury risk

From CNET: Samsung US has issued a voluntary recall on 2.8 million top-loading washing machines due to concerns over injury risks.

"The voluntary action was driven by reports highlighting the risk that the drums in these washers may lose balance, triggering excessive vibrations, resulting in the top separating from the washer," Samsung explained in a statement on its corporate blog.

Nine related injuries have been reported so far, according to the US Consumer Product Safety Commission, including a broken jaw and an injured shoulder.

The recall includes top-loading washing machines produced between March 2011 and present. The full list of models can be found on Samsung's website.

"We can confirm that this issue does not impact top-load washer models sold outside of North America."
