From PC Mag: Earlier this week it was revealed that the Nintendo Switch Online service would . By subscribing, you gain access to online multiplayer, cloud saves, an accompanying phone/tablet app, and a growing number of NES classic games to play. But there was one more surprise Nintendo held back until the re-scheduled Nintendo Direct yesterday.
Anyone who signs up for a Switch Online subscription will have the opportunity to purchase a set of official NES controllers to use with theirs.
As reports, the double pack of NES controllers will only be available as part of a Switch Online subscription and is expected to cost $59.99. You will also only be able to purchase one set per subscription and the pads won't start shipping out until mid-December. While it's currently unclear, it looks as though the $60 charge for the pads may be on top of the subscription price as they can be bought alongside an individual ($19.99 a year) or family ($34.99 a year) membership.
There's no wires connecting these pads. What Nintendo has done is modify the Joy-Con design to form wireless NES pads. They can even be slotted into your Switch to recharge as the image above demonstrates.
