From PC Mag: Amazon is continuing its expansion offline this week with the introduction of the company's second 4-Star bricks-and-mortar store, this time located in Colorado.
The first 4-Star store appeared back in late September when the New York neighborhood of SoHo got one. Inside, you'll find a range of products that all have one thing in common: none of them scored less than four stars using Amazon's online rating system. All the products stocked come from Amazon's most popular shopping categories, and of course, includes Amazon's own hardware devices.
As CNET reports, this second store can be found at the Park Meadows mall in Lone Tree, Colorado, which is a little south of Denver. A third 4-Star store is also planned for Berkeley, California. Amazon knows exactly where it's going to be located (1787 Fourth St), but there's no launch date yet. I'd be surprised if it didn't open before Christmas, though.
Although predominantly an online company, Amazon already has a surprising number of retail stores spread across the US. There's actually four different types of store Amazon runs. As well as 4-Star there's Amazon Pop-up, which just offers devices, and then there's Amazon Books, which is mostly about selling books, but also offers devices and merchandise. Finally, there's Amazon Go, which are the checkout-free grocery stores Amazon is experimenting with.
