From DailyTech: Canon has pulled the wraps off four new A-series point-and-shoot cameras. The new line of cameras includes the PowerShot A3100 IS, the A3000 IS, the A495, and the A490. The new line of cameras has built-in enhanced photo capabilities and creative modes. All of the cameras have the Canon Low Light mode to allow scenes like a kid blowing out candles in a dark room to be captured. Creative options in the line includes new scene modes of Poster Effect and super vivid modes. The ISO range of the cameras is wider as well at up to ISO 3200. "With the introduction of the new PowerShot A-Series cameras, Canon brings a new aesthetic design to our entry-level line and new features that enhance the camera's overall performance and functionality," said Yuichi Ishizuka, senior vice president and general manager, Consumer Imaging Group, Canon U.S.A. "The new creative modes are designed to offer consumers the ability to customize their captured images and add personalization to the time-honored art of photography." The A3100 IS has a 12.1-megapixel resolution and a 4x optical zoom lens with optical image stabilization. Both cameras also have a 2.7-inch rear LCD and smart auto modes. The difference between the two cameras is the resolution. The A3000 IS has a 10-megapixel resolution. The A3100 IS will sell for $179.99, the A3000 IS will sell for $149.99, and both cameras will sell in late February. The Canon PowerShot A495 and A490 cameras both feature 10-megapixel resolutions along with 3.3x optical zoom, a 2.5-inch LCD, and similar effects and modes as the other two A-series cameras. The A495 adds the ability to upload video to YouTube. The A495 will sell for $129.99 and the A490 will sell for $109.99 when they ship in late February. View: Article @ Source Site |
