Gateway Unveils New SX, FX, and DX Desktops

From DailyTech: Gateway has announced new computer models today in its FX, DX, and SX desktop series. The FX series computers are desktop gaming machines in a newly designed chassis with front headphone and mic ports and a storage tray on top for cameras and other gear. The FX line will come in a few models with the top-end version being the FX6831-03.

Pricing for the desktop will start at $1,699.99 and the machine uses an Intel Core i7 860 CPU. Other features include ATI Radeon HD5850 graphics, 16GB of memory, 1.5TB SATA HDD, 16X DVD drive, and a Blu-ray drive. Cut the RAM to 8GB and shed the Blu-ray drive and the machine can be had for $1,299.

“When it comes to online entertainment, PC gaming and value, Gateway’s FX Series can’t be beat,” said Steve Smith, senior desktop manager for Gateway. “While maintaining our price/performance leadership position, the new FX models boast a race car-like design with red accents and lighting, and include several new features that enhance the convenience and use of the PC.”

The Gateway SX series desktops are small form factor machines. The SX2840-01 has a MSRP of $559.99 and uses a Core i3 530 processor. The machine has Intel GMA X4500HD graphics and 6GB of RAM. Storage for the desktop is to a 1TB HDD and a DVD burner is built-in.

The DX series from Gateway is a multimedia machine with Blu-ray drive among other media-centric features. The machine can also play games and perform other duties. The DX4831-03 desktop starts at $849.99 and uses a Core i5 560 CPU. The machine has NVIDIA GT220 graphics and 8GB of RAM. Other features include 1TB of storage, Blu-ray, and a DVD burner. All of the new machines use Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit.
