Corsair Memory Speeds Up 16GB, 24GB Memory Kits

From X-bit Labs: Corsair Memory on Tuesday released new high-density 4GB memory modules that are capable of operating at 1600MHz. The new modules are designed for workstations based on Intel Core i7/i5 microprocessors with dual-channel or triple-channel memory sub-systems.

The new Corsair Dominator 4GB memory modules that power the 16GB (4x4GB) and 24GB (6x4GB) memory kits can function at 1600MHz clock-speed with CL9 9-9-24 latency settings at 1.65V voltage. The kits feature DHX+ heat-spreading system with airflow fan for efficient cooling. The 16GB set is designed for LGA1156 processors with dual-channel memory controller, whereas the 24GB kit is aimed at extreme LGA1366 microprocessors with triple-channel memory controller.

“We continue to see increasing demand for high density solutions from programmers, scientists, videographers, and other data-intensive users. These new 1600MHz modules will enable a new level of processing speed for handling these large data sets,” said John Beekley, vice president of technical marketing at Corsair.

The 16GB and 24GB 1600MHz Dominator DDR3 memory kits are available immediately from the Corsair online store for the whopping price-points of $999 and $1449, respectively.

Corsair is not the first one to launch 1600MHz DDR3 memory modules with 4GB capacity. Early this year Kingston Memory released its 16GB and 24GB memory kits, however, the solutions were even more expensive than the new Dominator sets for workstations.
