Nokia Announces Chubby X5-01 for Teens

From DailyTech: Short and squat smartphones must be an emerging trend these days. It wasn't too long ago that Microsoft released its chubby little Kin One phone which is aimed at consumers in their tween to college-aged years. Now, Nokia is announcing a new chubster of its own with the new X5-01.

Like the Kin One, Nokia is aiming this phone at teens and it has no problem stating exactly that. "The unique, square slider design makes it a perfect device for teens who enjoy Facebook, chatting, games, music and staying in touch with their peers in unlimited ways," states Nokia in its press release for the X5-01.

The phone features a slide-out QWERTY keyboard, has a "great music player with excellent sound quality and loud speakers", support for Ovi Music, and comes with a measly 200MB of onboard storage. Nokia rectifies the storage woes somewhat by including a 2GB microSD card in the box with the phone, and up to a 32GB microSD is supported. Other features of the phone include a 5MP camera with 4x digital zoom and an LED flash.

Nokia says that the X5-01 is good for 16 days of standby battery life and can play music for up to 18 hours.
