Nook Wi-Fi Goes On Sale

From DailyTech: Barnes & Noble released the Nook Wi-Fi today, which is two days earlier than expected, for $149 USD. In addition to this featured release, the company slashed the price of the Nook 3G down to $199 -- a $60 cut.

Nook Wi-Fi allows users to play games, read eBooks for free at any Barnes & Noble store and connect for free in AT&T hot spots as well as Barnes & Noble stores. What makes the Nook Wi-Fi different from the 3G version is that Nook Wi-Fi is completely white while the 3G has a grey back, the Wi-Fi weighs 11.6 ounces while the 3G is 12.1 ounces and the most obvious contrasting characteristic is that the Wi-Fi uses Wi-Fi connectivity while the 3G uses both 3G wireless and Wi-Fi connectivity.

"People who love to read will find tremendous value with the new Nook Wi-Fi, the most full-featured, low-cost eReading device on the market, and our bestselling Nook 3G now at en even lower price," said Tony Astarita, Vice President of Digital Products for Barnes&Noble.com.

"This expanded choice offers best-in-class, best-priced dedicated eBook Readers featuring eBook sharing, access to our vast eBookstore, great free and exclusive content and much more. And with expansion of fast and free Wi-Fi access beyond Barnes & Noble stores to thousands of AT&T Wi-Fi Hot Spots, we're bringing additional freedom and flexibility to all Nook 3G and Nook Wi-Fi customers."

Other features on the Nook Wi-Fi and Nook 3G are dual displays with a 6" E-Ink screen for book and a 3.5" LCD color touchscreen for navigation, LendMe™ technology where users can share eBooks with friends for 14 days and 10 day battery life when the Wi-Fi is turned off.
