Nintendo Sells 30 Millionth Wii Game Console in the U.S

From X-bit Labs: Nintendo on Tuesday said that it had shipped its 30 millionth Wii game console in the U.S. The milestone has been reached in less than four years, or in 45 months. Nintendo claims that the success of Wii is conditioned by its innovative motion-sensing controller and attraction of non-hardcore audience.

"More than any other video game system in history, Wii has expanded the world of video games to new audiences. This milestone is another reminder that people want fun games they can play with others – all at a value-minded price," said Cammie Dunaway, Nintendo of America's executive vice president of sales and marketing.

In addition to attraction of novice gamers to appropriate titles, the Wii game console was less expensive than competing Microsoft Xbox 360 or Sony PlayStation 3. As a result, the system quickly gained popularity and thanks to word of mouth advertising, it became the fastest-selling new-generation console.

The Wii video game system is now available in either black or white at a suggested retail price of $199.99. That price offers a great value to consumers, as it includes two engaging games, Wii Sports and Wii Sports Resort, as well as the Wii Remote and Nunchuk controllers and a Wii MotionPlus accessory, which brings additional precision to specially designed games.
