Specifications of Dual-Chip ATI Radeon HD 6990: 6TFLOPS of Horsepower

From X-bit Labs: Another web-site has published slides that presumably come from the presentation of Advanced Micro Devices' most powerful graphics card, the Radeon HD 6990 code-named Antilles. If the slides are to be believed, the novelty does pack of lot of horsepower and integrates 3840 stream processors and 4GB of GDDR5 memory in total.

According to slide published by 3D-Center web-site, AMD Radeon HD 6990 graphics board - the next-generation dual-chip flagship offering from AMD - will carry two code-named Cayman graphics processing units (GPUs) with 1920 stream processors per chip. The novelty will deliver 6.0TFLOPS (trillion floating point operating systems per second) single-precision performance or up to 1.5TFLOPS double-precision performance, making the card highest performing on the planet.

The new board will carry 4GB of GDDR5 memory clocked at 4.80GHz and will be equipped with two DVI-I and three mDP connectors. The novelty will consume up to 300W of power under load and around 30W in idle mode.

The new dual-chip graphics card will be available in Q1 2011. Pricing of the Radeon HD 6990 is unknown.
