Canon Introduces Four New PowerShot A-Series Cameras

From DailyTech: Canon's budget-conscious PowerShot A-Series digital cameras are getting four new additions today. The new offerings include the A800, A1200, A2200, and A3300 IS and are for people that want a simple and effective camera with plenty of scene modes to capture the "perfect" picture.

The entry-level model is of course the A800, which has a low price of entry at just $89.99. The sub-$100 price tag gets you a 10MP image sensor, 3.3x optical zoom (37-112mm equivalent) and a 2.5" display.

Stepping up to the A1200 will get you a 12.1MP image sensor, 4x optical zoom (28-122mm equivalent), 720p movie recording, an optical view finder, and a slightly large 2.7" display on the back. The A1200 will retail for $109.99.

The next two members of the family, the A2200 and A3300 IS, represent further refinements of the same basic formula. The A2200 gives you a 14.1mp sensor, 4x zoom (28-112mm equivalent), and a 2.7" display. The A3300 IS, as its name implies, brings 5x zoom (28-140mm equivalent) with image stabilization, a 16MP image sensor, and a 3" display. Both support 720p video recording.

The A2200 is priced at $139.99 while the A3300 IS will set you back $179.99. The A2200 will be available in black, blue, silver, and red, while the A3300 IS comes in grey, red, blue, silver, and pink.

All four cameras will be available during the first quarter of 2011.
