Patriot Memory Unveils Pyro SATA III SSD

From DailyTech: The SSD world is growing very rapidly today with new offerings hitting the market on a regular basis. With each new generation of SSDs that lands, prices get lower and storage capacity increases. The latest to be unveiled is the new Patriot Pyro SATA III SSD.

Patriot uses the SandForce SF-2281 processor inside to allow the drive to have blazing fast performance. The write speeds for the 2.5” SSD come in at 515MB/s and the read speeds are 550MB/s. The random write IOPS for 4k files is 85,000 and the drive uses the SATA 6Gb/s interface.

"The Patriot Memory Pyro will continue to aggressively expand on what consumers can expect out of performance class solid state drives," says William Lai, Patriot Memory’s Product Manager. "With near enterprise level performance by utilizing the new SandForce SF-2281, coupled with Patriot Memory's reputation; Pyro will deliver unmatched price per performance."

The Pyro series SSDs will come in 60GB, 120GB, and 240GB capacities. Patriot didn't offer pricing and availability on the Pyro line at the time. They are billed as mid-range offerings so they should be affordable enough.

The Corsair Force Series 3 SSDs use the same SandForce controller and reach nearly $500 for the 240GB version.
