Acer Debuts Four New All-in-One PCs

From PC World: Acer recently announced four new all-in-one PCs just in time for the holidays or those looking for a new multitouch desktop PC before the expected debut of touch-centric Windows 8 in 2012. Two of the new devices, part of Acer's AZ3 and AZ5 lines, are updates to their predecessors such as the Acer AZ5700-U2112. As before the new all-in-ones feature multitouch displays with 1080p high-definition resolution, big hard drives, and tons of RAM.

But the updated devices have been tweaked with faster processors, and, more importantly, cheaper starting prices. Pricing for the new AZ5771 starts at $750 (although it's $850 as a pre-order on Amazon), compared to the AZ5700's nearly $1,000 starting price when it debuted in late 2010.

The computer maker's new Veriton line-up is also adding two all-in-one devices that aren’t multitouch. The new Veriton V2620G, for example, features a quad-core Core i5 processor and supports up to 8GB of RAM. The smaller 20-inch screen on both Veriton PCs supports 1600-by-900 resolution.

The AZ5 features a 23-inch multitouch screen with 1920-by-1080 pixel resolution, Intel 3.3 GHz quad-core Core i3-2120 processor, 4GB DDR3 RAM and 1 TB hard drive. The AZ3 has a 21.5-inch multitouch screen with 1920-by-1080 pixel resolution, AMD 2.7 GHz dual-core A4-3400 processor, 4GB DDR3 RAM and a 500 GB hard drive. Both devices feature a 1.3 megapixel Webcam, two USB 3.0 ports (side), four USB 2.0 ports (rear), 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi, multi-in-1 card reader, optical drive, one HDMI in, one HDMI out and Windows 7 Home Premium (64-bit). If you get tired of reaching across your desk to manipulate your PC via multitouch, you will still have a wireless mouse and keyboard to fall back on.

Acer is also introducing two all-in-ones to its Veriton line-up for business users. Both computers come with a 20-inch screen with 1600-by-900 resolution, 4GB DDR3 RAM (upgradeable to 8GB), 500GB HDD, six USB 2.0 ports, 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi, and Windows 7 Professional. The Veriton 2620G comes with a 2.50 GHz Core i5-2400S processor and pricing starts at $850. The Veriton 2610G is packing a 2.60 GHz dual-core Intel Pentium G620 chip and is priced at $650.
