Microsoft Ships Windows 8 Preview PCs on Nvidia and Qulacomm PCs

From X-bit Labs: Microsoft Corp. has started to supply developers so-called Windows-on-ARM (WOA) systems. The software giant has chosen Nvidia Tegra 3 as well as Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 system-on-chip (SoC) products. The designers of chips cheer, but the question about actual availability if WOA-based devices.

The world’s largest software company is distributing systems with Windows 8 test PCs to software developers and device manufacturers powered by the Tegra 3 quad-core mobile SoC. This program enables these parties to create a rich ecosystem of apps and devices for Windows 8 on ARM-based processors. Nvidia-systems are base on quad-core application processor.

“Qualcomm is committed to the Windows on ARM ecosystem and knows that enabling developers is a crucial factor for its success to software application developers, said Luis Pineda, senior vice president of product management, computing and consumer products at Qualcomm.

Qualcomm also initiated shipments of that its quad-core Snapdragon S4-powered chips.The company hopes that the software kit hopes it would allow Windows Metro style apps on ARM latest technology.
