Toshiba Unveils Trio of New Excite Tablets

From DailyTech: Toshiba has expanded its line of Excite Android tablets to include three new screen sizes. The new tablets have 13.3-inch, 10.1-inch, and 7.7-inch screens. The names of the tablets, predictably, are the Excite 10, Excite 13, and Excite 7.7. The tablets all have some common features including aluminum bodies and scratch-resistant Gorilla Glass displays. The tablets also all run Android 4.0 for the operating system.

“One size does not fit all, so we are carefully considering how and where people are using tablets and designing form factors to best suit various needs,” said Carl Pinto, vice president of product development, Toshiba America Information Systems, Inc., Digital Products Division. “With amazingly thin and light designs, our new Excite family of tablets continues to incorporate what consumers have come to love about Toshiba tablets: essential ports for a more complete tablet computing experience plus durability that ensures they can go the distance.”

The new tablets use an NVIDIA Tegra 3 processor, which are quad-core CPUs with an additional fifth core for low-power operations. Toshiba gives each of the three new tablets a five-megapixel rear camera and a two-megapixel front camera. The tablets also have integrated Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and stereo speakers.

The Excite 10 has an LED backlit screen with a resolution of 1280 x 800 and supports up to 10 points of touch at the same time. The 10-inch tablet is 0.35-inch thick, weighs 1.32 pounds, and promises 10 hours of battery life. It includes 1 GB of RAM and has integrated micro USB, micro HDMI, and a SD card slot.

The Excite 13 measures 13.3-inches diagonally and has a resolution of 1600 x 900. It has four speakers for better sound and 1 GB of memory. It promises up to 13 hours of battery life.

The Excite 7.7 uses an AMOLED display and has 1 GB of memory. The tablet is 0.3-inch thick and weighs 13.4 ounces.
