Nokia Lumia 920 Appears to Be Most Popular Windows Phone Device

From X-bit Labs: According to a new report from AdDuplex, Nokia Corp. continues to dominate Microsoft Corp.’s Windows Phone eco-system. Moreover, Nokia’s latest high-end smartphone – Lumia 920 – appears to be the most popular device for the operating system, a good sign for the company and the platform, but an alarming sign for other smartphone makers.

As it appears, smartphones from Nokia dominate the world of Windows Phone in general, leaving only 20% of the market to other players, such as HTC, Samsung Electronics or Huawei. A good news is that among all Windows Phone devices the high-end Lumia 920 is the most popular one. The report is based on data collected from 494 Windows Phone apps running AdDuplex SDK v.2.

A bad news is that Windows Phone 7-series based handsets dominate the WP ecosystem in general with 57% share (43% use the WP8), meaning that loads of people either bought discounted WP7 devices back in Q4 2012, or they simply do not want to upgrade to newer and better models. Still, after around six month on the market, 43% share in the Windows Phone eco-system seems to be a decent achievement of the WP8 OS.

Based on statistics provided by Unity, the maker of a highly-popular cross-platform engine for video games, around 91% of Apple iOS devices use the latest iOS 6 or iOS 6.1, whereas around 70% of advanced Google Android device users utilize Android 4.0 or better OS.
