AMD Aims to Make GCN More Affordable with Radeon HD 7730 Graphics Card

From X-bit Labs: Advanced Micro Devices is prepping Radeon HD 7730 graphics card, the most affordable graphics solution based on GCN (graphics core next) architecture. The new solution will likely be based on code-named Cape Verde graphics processing unit and will address the market of very inexpensive graphics adapters.

The first image of an MSI graphics card based on AMD Radeon HD 7730 was published by Coolaler.com web-site. The board looks like small card with low power consumption and 128-bit memory bus. According to the web-site, the Cape Verde GPU runs at 800MHz and features an unknown amount of stream processors, texture units and render back ends.

Based on synthetic performance tests of the novelty, the Radeon HD 7730 appears to be around two times more powerful than the Radeon HD 6670, which may mean that the graphics solution features 512 stream processors, the same amount that is found inside the Radeon HD 7750.

Given the fact that some of AMD partners already have Radeon HD 7730 graphics boards at hands, it is likely that the launch of the new product is near. It is possible that the official price of the model HD 7730 will be around or below $50.
