Apple Confirms iPhone Event for September 10

From DailyTech: Apple's iPhone event has been officially confirmed for September 10 in its hometown of Cupertino.

According to the invitations sent to the press, the September 10 event will primarily focus on new iPhone offerings and will take place at 10 a.m. PST at the Apple Campus in Cupertino, California.

The event is expected to unveil the successor to the iPhone 5, which could possibly be named the iPhone 5S. The 5S should have a faster processor, an improved camera and even a gold color option.

For the first time ever, Apple is expected to present two iPhones at one event. The second is the iPhone 5C (stands for iPhone 5 color), which is considered the budget iPhone. It will have the same internals as the iPhone 5, but will feature a plastic backing that could come in multiple colors as well as a price tag of $99.

The event invitation's cover says "This should brighten everyone's day" with a bunch of colorful dots. This likely refers to the fact that the iPhone 5C will be colorful, and that the iPhone 5S got a new color option as well.

Color is also a key change behind the Apple's upcoming version of its mobile operating system, iOS 7. Apple showed the new OS off back at its Worldwide Developer's Conference (WWDC) in June, where we caught an early glimpse of iOS 7's dramatic redesign in regards to the look of the icons and menu. The color scheme is much brighter and gone is the skeumorphic design of icons attempting to mimic real-world objects. Many have described it as "flatter" but with a new sense of depth thanks to layers and the frosted glass effect.
